Why Preparation Is Important

Cockroaches hide in cracks, cabinets, appliances, and wall voids. Proper preparation allows our technicians to:

Access hidden harbourage areas
Apply treatments effectively
Eliminate cockroaches faster
Prevent re-infestation

Before Your Cockroach Treatment

1. Kitchen Preparation (Very Important)

Please complete the following before the technician arrives:

Empty all kitchen cabinets, drawers, and pantries
Remove food, dishes, cookware, and utensils
Store food in sealed plastic containers or airtight bags
Clean crumbs, grease, and spills from all surfaces
Pull appliances slightly away from walls (stove, fridge, dishwasher if possible)

2. Bathroom Preparation

Empty cabinets under sinks
Remove toiletries and personal items
Clean sink areas, tubs, and toilets
Ensure access to baseboards and plumbing areas

3. Living Areas & Bedrooms

Reduce clutter, especially near walls
Move furniture at least 12 inches from walls where possible
Remove items stored under beds or couches
Vacuum floors, cracks, and baseboards (dispose of vacuum bag immediately)

4. Laundry & Storage Areas

Clear shelves and storage areas
Remove items touching walls or floors
Clean up excess moisture or leaks

During the Treatment

All people and pets must leave the unit during treatment
Fish tanks must be covered or removed
Follow technician instructions regarding re-entry time
Do not interrupt bait placements or treatments

After the Cockroach Treatment

1. Re-Entry

Re-enter the treated areas only after the advised time (usually 4–6 hours)
Open windows briefly to ventilate if recommended

2. Cleaning Guidelines

Do NOT clean treated areas for at least 7–14 days
Light cleaning of non-treated surfaces is allowed
Do not wash away bait or treated cracks and crevices

3. What to Expect

You may see increased cockroach activity for several days
This is normal and indicates the treatment is working
Dead or dying cockroaches may appear

4. Follow-Up Treatments

Severe infestations often require follow-up treatments
Continue preparation before each visit
Notify us if cockroach activity persists beyond 2 weeks
